I’ll be explaining why the baby boomers are called the Me Generation.
I’m a Millenial so although it doesn’t necessarily apply directly to me, it does in a way still.
My parents would fall in this category and there’s been a lot of unanswered questions that I need answered.
So here I am trying to figure it out.
Why are Baby Boomers called the Me Generation
It’s a term used by Tom Wolfe that was meant to capture what he would refer to them as the ‘Me Decade’.
What is Tom Wolfe famous for?
Tom Wolfe’s famous for being a literary legend, very inspiring for anybody that does a lot of writing.
To tie his name with a reputable brand it would probably be most recognizable with Esquire.
Adding more to his name is also a novelist, journalist and social commentator.
What feature characterized the 1970s as the me decade?
There’s actually multiple features that characterized the 1970s as the ME decade.
They go as followed:
- A shift towards an individualistic mindset instead of a community type value
- The rise of narcissism
