I’ll be explaining why Chimera Ants aren’t actually ants.

Obviously they’re the race that’s viewed as the antagonists at the end of the Hunter x Hunter series.

They’re known to have an interesting breeding process in where the “ants” are actually made to be the spawn of whatever it is that they consume.

They have a colony structure that’s unique and specific to their tiers of ants which ultimately brings us up to their high authority ranking ants such as the king and other commanding officers.

To be even more specific the ants under the king are called the Royal Guards.

Why are Chimera Ants not ants

I think it has more to do with being a metaphor for what they could’ve been. Although HXH had mythical beasts within their realm of reality the existence of the ants was still somewhat of a mystery, that’s why they still have high class hunters check their home out.

Who is Neferpitou made of?

Neferpitou was made from the Ant Queen and is the culmination of a cat-humanoid.

Surprisingly Pitou is a male that took out Kite closer to midway in the Chimera Ant arc.

I will add that Pitou’s very loyal considering that he was willing to do anything to protect the king but is also made up of lying tendencies because he also promised to restore Kite after Gon caught up with him.

What is the lifespan of a Chimera Ant?

Their lifespans can range anywhere up to about 50 years.

Of course when they run into a pro hunter or even the likes of a member of the phantom troupe that time can get cut extremely short.

Although there were some ants that had the use of nen there were also some without it and that made them less likely to live through the war.
