I’ll be explaining why Super Saiyan 2 has electricity.
This of course is the second transformation in sequence following Super Saiyan which we see Goku use in the battle against Frieza on Planet Namek.
However when we get to Super Saiyan 2 it’s actually in the Cell Games with Teen Gohan.
It’s easily a top 5 moment in the entire Dragon Ball universe.
What we’re gonna look at specifically is the electricity that comes with this transformation.
It makes it easy to know what form a Saiyan is in when they’re transforming.
Why does Super Saiyan 2 have electricity
This transformation was introduced to us in DBZ and is the result of a Saiyan’s Chi oozing from their body and ionizing with the air causing a literal spark of energy. We can even say that it’s a metaphor for speed, and that can apply to how quickly a Saiyan’s hair grows during this transformation.
The Inner fights the Outer energy
After coming across a discussion forum started on Reddit, some users think the electricity phenomenon happens because the Z-Fighter’s energy clashes with air and produces the spark we see.
If we look at a few of the differences that happen in comparison to original Super Saiyan then we might even be able to stretch our imagination to the point where we can apply the electricity spark to how fast the hair grows on the Saiyan.
It’s definitely one of the most defining areas of recognition for being able to identify what a Super Saiyan 2 looks like.
With that said though, there’s still some spots that we should possibly clarify better for what makes a Super Saiyan 2 because there’s fans that are even having debates on if Bardock (Goku’s father) went SSJ2 in the DragonBall: Episode of Bardock special.
That’s actually why I also mention there’s possibly an element to the hair growth that may add another layer to the transformation.
If we apply to Bardock’s case though, I’m pretty sure it’s only a regular Super Saiyan.
Conclusion
Let’s bring everything back full circle.
That electricity is without a doubt one of the easiest ways to spot a Super Saiyan 2.
I really like the idea that it’s a Saiyan’s Chi energy clashing with the air and creating an ionizing effect that produces the electricity.
We really only see it with our core Saiyans but it’s still a cool transformation regardless.
