Why did Kakashi pass team 7? (Explained)

I’ll be explaining why kakashi decided to pass team 7.

Why did kakashi pass team 7

I think it’s because they showed an element of teamwork that he appreciated. It’s worth noting though that he was actually assigned team 7 per request of Hiruzen. It makes sense though because of his reputation of leadership and ability to use the sharingan.

He Was Chose

According to a discussion started on Quora they point out an important point in acknowledging that Hiruzen was the person who actually assigned Kakashi to Team 7 in the first place.

It was him that believed Kakashi would provide the best leadership for Team 7 and could change him for the better as well.

There’s been debates and discussions ran on if Kakashi was stronger than Hiruzen in his prime.

Personally I would say that he wasn’t because as good as Kakashi’s reputation was in training, Hiruzen still had one that made other deadly ninjas fear him as well.

Kakashi’s reputation

In the anime & manga stack exchange they also bring up another point that gives more context to the situation in where Kakashi had a well known reputation for being hard on students.

Because he saw his past students as less than ninja in his eyes that’s why he continually failed them.

Other fans might even make the claim that Kakashi is the reason that team 7 fell apart.

“Why” you may ask and that’s because the team split up for different reasons.

Sasuke was on his own mission, Naruto was chasing him and Sakura kind of strolled along as things played out; a recipe for disaster.

The shortcoming that some say Kakashi had when it came to Sasuke was failing to stop him from an attitude of entitlement as he was pursuing Itachi.

And for Naruto they may say he redirected his responsibility for him towards Jiraiya.

Even Sakura being left under the guidance of Lady Tsunade.

The convenience of his leadership

In Fanverse there was a user that also mentioned a good theory in Kakashi made the most sense to lead Team 7 because of his leadership experience and ability to use sharingan.

On top of being able to guide Sasuke’s use of his kekkai genkai, he also was close enough to the fox demon in Naruto to keep it at large had something were to go wrong.

The only mystery to me was Sakura’s importance.

To revisit Hiruzen giving Kakashi the responsibility to manage his team it might even be the reason why he (Kakashi) would go on to be Hokage.

The convenience continues though (at least in Naruto’s favor) once Yamato was introduced into the picture.

That was the leadership Naruto needed if we’re being honest.

I still think that everything played out how Kakashi saw it would though because growing up he led the Anbu black ops for having such a cold personality; it changed though as he got older.

The last thing though is that it’s actually pretty common for leaders to take a seat back and let their students develop their own techniques.

Jiraiya, Asuma, Minato and even Kurenai to name a few shinobi.

Conclusion

Let’s revisit what we learned today. Kakashi passed Team 7 because they were different from the other teams he dealt with in the past.

Although he said they lacked in some areas of teamwork they still showed up and proved they had that quality when the time called for it.

He had a reputation for being hard on students but that only speaks on how unique this group was when they met him.

Plus I also think he understood how big of an impact he could have on the future of the village managing someone else with a sharingan and kyuubi in their body.
