I’ll be answering why is John Kramer alive in Jigsaw.

It’s important that we get to the bottom of this topic because it’s leaving so many confused about the timeline and order of the saw films.
I was lost myself in trying to understand how they were able to continue the story of Saw when it appeared to be a personal beef that only one person had with detectives in the story.
Saw is an established series of films that center around the life of John Kramer.
It’s a mix of horror, thriller, mystery and suspense that’s earned the title of being a household name in memorable films.
Coming up on its tenth film with Saw X it proves that this franchise is interesting to say the least.
Why is John Kramer alive in jigsaw
The chronological setting is what allowed John to keep coming back.
Since the fourth film it could have things where John never actually dies.
The third film confirms his death but each film after serves as prequels when it comes to telling John’s story.
How did John Kramer survive?
In Saw 2 we see that after an attempted suicide by driving his car off a cliff he crawls out of the wreckage in pain.
After the end of 3 everything else was simply flashbacks.
If we look at the end of Saw 3 then we’ll remember that when Jeff reached his final test that it was of forgiveness.
After the challenges he went through to reach his wife Lynn he was finally face to face with Jigsaw (who put him through everything) and had the choice to either kill him or walk away.
Jeff chose to kill John thinking he was getting the last laugh, but once he played the recorder it was meant to only be heard if he was going to die for sure.
That’s actually why the device that Amanda put on Lynn went off, it was the “insurance policy” to make sure both parties could walk away scott free.
The confusion comes when we see John again in the future films which were actually just flashbacks to give more context to his past.
Specifically for the movie Jigsaw, the scenes that included him were only meant to be a prequel for Saws 1 and 2.
I hope these points can connect a few dots for the readers when trying to understand why John Kramer was still alive.
Let’s review the points again:
• Jigsaw simply faked his death
• He could’ve caught his cancer in the early stages
• Maybe he’s really dead
How is Jigsaw still alive?

Clearly Jigsaw’s story in the Saw franchise isn’t told in Chronological order.
The confusion began when John Kramer is shown to be alive in the film Jigsaw after we as the audience is led to believe he died after Saw 3.
I’ll intervene here and echo the complaint that most fans had in believing Jigsaw was killed off too early.
I believe Saw X acknowledges this complaint in proving there’s possibilities to bring back numerous characters that were killed in the earlier films.
There’s just too many apprentices following a very strong leading character in John Kramer.
Fans still want to see more of Jigsaw played by John and his mentorship over Amanda.
There might be a bit of a corner the writers put themselves in by giving John terminal cancer.
That put a ticker with time when it comes to how long his character could last in the story.
At least in theory.
But if the stories are told in anthology form it probably could work because as much as we like John as Jigsaw the character that’s become beloved is the idea of Jigsaw.
Because he actually died in Saw 3 there’s not anything the writers can do to undo that but they can really turn the legend of Jigsaw into a title that gets passed on.
Kind of a tangent but still somewhat relevant is a parallel that I drew from what Jigsaw could be.
It reminds me of Kira in Death Note.
That’s how I picture the legend of Jigsaw being if done right.
