Why is starting a rap group a good idea? (Explained)

Let’s talk about why starting a rap group’s a good idea.

There’s some legendary groups that formed throughout the existence of hip-hop and many of their members would go on to do amazing things.

Depending on where you’re at on your process in relation to this will determine how much of your imagination you’ll have to use.

But without further to do let’s move on.

Why is starting a rap group a good idea

More people involved speeds your process up faster. Increase in money and resources. The networking gets better.

If I can be transparent for a moment, this actually came about after thinking about starting one myself:

  • Real-talk records
  • The Realest ever
  • Rap 4 Real

The names could be any of the following as of the time of writing this.

Speeds up the process

I believe it speeds up the process for personal success in music because it fully utilizes the mastermind principle I’ve mentioned earlier.

When you have numerous people working together for the same goal it makes the combination of efforts concentrated towards a result.

More money and resources

In addition to the extra work it also leads to more resources as well.

Chances are each of the people in your group will have something different and unique to bring to the table.

If everyone brings what they can towards the cost of operation you’ll have more options in terms of anything that you could think of you would spend money on.

To keep everyone on the same page it’ll be best to clarify what the group will be spending money on and if it’s universally helpful then you’ll get the things faster than what’s expected on average.

To give you an idea of where you can start is spending on better recording equipment, better beats, even clothing.

Anything that contributes to the profit of the group can be justified as long as you’re sure you’ll be able to make money with the idea.

Better networking

The networking element is a highly slept on concept that also could be used if you start a group.

This is separate from the original members.

“Why” you may ask.

Here’s why:

Because these people you’re networking with are meant to help you book shows, sell records or get airtime.

Traditionally you can expect these type of people to be potential agents, venue owners, promoters or even other artists that are looking to fill a lineup.

Your chances of networking can increase if you really treat your group as a business and occasionally send them to areas where networking is encouraged.

There’s events going on most of the time at your nearest major city.

My potential names

Do something that works best for you but I’ll be taking the chance to share my plan of starting a group.

It’s actually what inspired this post in general.

If we look at the names that I proposed earlier they were:

  • Real-talk records
  • The Realest ever
  • Rap 4 Real

Real-talk records

This name feels a little generic to be honest but it captures what we’ve grown together as a blog site and mixing the elements of music.

Hence the records word that’s used, it just communicates that the group’s specific to the growth of music.

The Realest ever

I came to this name just to give an aspiration immediately for whoever ends up joining.

It’s to set the standard of wanting to be the best at your craft, and in this case it’s music obviously.

Rap 4 Real

Clearly we can tell that I have an admiration for the aspect of keeping things real, and because it would be rap music that I’m leading with I’ll probably open the doors to specialists in emceeing.

I’ve mentioned I liked other genres as well but because I’m putting this groundwork to get it started and it’s with rap I just want to make it clear.

Conclusion

Let’s revisit the points and everything else I went over again.

1. A rap group will get you to your personal goals faster.

2. You’ll inherit more finances and other resources for a better quality of work.

3. There’s a greater chance for networking opportunities as you can expand your reach in other areas.

On top of that I also introduced a concept of 3 potential names I’d like your opinion on what would look best for a reputable group.

I acknowledge it’s my decision but I’m open to criticism.

I’ll leave you with a video for making it this far!
