I’ll be explaining why joining a mastermind is a good business move.
You’ll learn quickly that most successful people in any profession use this practice very often.
If you strongly consider the points made and actively work on applying them I’m sure you’ll see results that’ll make you happier in the end.
This is a purely educational post that’s only meant to share a perspective on a simple concept that takes effort to master.
You might’ve heard about this before if you were ever part of a sales team of any sort.
It’s something that was used ever since the value of teamwork was ever introduced to the world.
And if it’s still used today, what does that mean?
It’s worth looking into at the very least.
Why Is Joining a Mastermind a Good Business Move?
Joining a mastermind is a good business move for numerous reasons:
- Opportunity to learn from other successful businesses and leaders of the industry
- Consistent connection
- Extends your network
- Partners you can trust
- Keeps accountability
- Privacy with sharing struggles
- A space to focus on a common goal with activities included
- Reflects the knowledge of everyone involved to help everybody grow
- Potential long-term friends
- It’s fastest way to learn
- Great way to earn feedback
Who is the first person to teach in the world?
Confucius was thought of to be the first philosopher that taught the modern leaders of today.
Personally my first teachers in life were my peers during my early childhood, unless you also count the tv shows that played a role too.
I went to a school that taught about God and we’ve believed that God’s word from the Bible was actually the first teachings in history.
Some of the earliest teachers in this era of time were Moses and even Noah for what he taught the animals to do during the flood.
But remove the religion from the picture and look at it through the lens of early human history.
Some of our most prominent historical figures that were famous for what they taught ranged, but a few of them were:
- Socrates
- Aristotle
- Pythagoras
- Zeus
What are signs of good communication?
There’s numerous signs of good communication in a team.

Active listening
Active listening is the ability to listen, focus and understand what a speaker’s saying.
It’s taking another step in communicating with another person by also giving them feedback, usually through acknowledgement of what they said.
Transparency In Communication
Transparency when applied to communication involves the action of sharing both good and bad information in a conversation.
It’s important to have this element because it allows everyone included to dissect what’s being presented and understand the situation better.
Asking Questions In Meetings
When you’re involved in a mastermind it’s the relaying of multiple perspectives usually and usually only requires you to ask 1 or 2 questions max.
This let’s you keep the discussion moving forward while at the same time also allowing others to understand parts they might miss.
Being Clear In Conversations
Being clear and concise in conversations is a valuable asset to share with your team.
It helps everyone get the most out of the time they have available with everybody, and there’s numerous ways to be more clear when you contribute:

Why is criticism important in communication?
Criticism allows us to improve on our quality of work.
I’ll explain more about this in feedback since they’re closely related.
When is it a good time to start expanding your network?
The best time you should start expanding your network with the business is immediately.
There’s never really a set time and date that you should start actively growing your contact list.
It can happen as early as the first day, month, year or even later, however, in a game that requires you to constantly grow networking you’ll find climbs high up on the priority list quickly.
You’re going to want to make it a focus eventually for a number of reasons:
- Build a connection
- Possible mentorship
- Career opportunities
- Support/Information
- Professional Growth
- Reputation
There’s numerous ways you can go about growing your network.
One of the most popular ways that I see it happening is through social media although it’s only one way.
Strategically speaking a network could serve you best when you’re planning on using it for a specific purpose.
There’s tremendous benefits that come frequently by simply keeping track of who you know.
Where are trustworthy business partners located
They’re all around you.
One of my favorite type of people to have in a team personality wise if you follow Myers-Briggs are ISFJs.
They have an attitude that I personally believe can contribute greatly to a team environment.
But let’s move on.
The trick is becoming the type of person that other people will actually wanna work with.
To give you an exact concrete direction it’s best to start with your immediate social circle.
These are the people who ideally will support you with your specific goal.
They’ll act as the reference point for where your standard should be.
According to the Harvard Business Review they claim that our first demonstrations of when networking was recognized as valuable was amongst the Middle East with Asian countries.
Plain and simply put growing your network also grows the pool of your business leads.
There’s other useful sites that are made specifically for entrepreneurs that want to expand their business network.
How do you show accountability in the workplace?

These are my top 5 points of emphasis that I choose to keep in mind when being accountable with a team.
Accountability is the foundation of what keeps the team moving forward and following the standard they set for themselves.
One aspect that I’d like to place special focus on is showing up.
Most of the battle in doing anything that could present challenges is simply showing up to compete.
It’s less about being competitive and more about creating clones of what anyone should be.
You’ll find that being able to share feedback is one of the most common points that’s focused on in conversations about accountability.
If you’re accountable, you’ll set a goal and do what you need to do in order to meet that quota, whatever it is.
Inadvertently accountability also helps create more transparent members that are comfortable ideally with sharing information important to the team.
As expected, accountable individuals are also high in self esteem, similar to INFJs that I’ve mentioned before.
Why is it important to provide privacy for your sales team?
Privacy is the point that keeps the trust between you and all other parties involved.
With your team it allows them to freely speak without fear of being judged or criticized by outside influences.
Leaked information could damage the reputation of the group as a whole if they’re known to share things that were meant to be private.
Practicing best practices for this policy could prevent negative things from happening such as loss of a sale if you’re in business or losing a partner.
From a sales standpoint, if you’re able to gain the reputation for someone who can keep things private ethically you can actually even boost your earnings.
People buy from those they trust and privacy is just a huge factor with that value.
Who is the person with the most important position in a company?
It’s the CEO for sure.
Yes, everybody has a very important role in whatever group, and we can even take the business aspect out of it and at least recognize it as whoever’s considered the face of the union.
This person usually is the hardest worker in a sense that they’re agreed to be the leader of what’s considered the standard of the entire group.
They provide the most value and it’s usually crystal clear that they’re most in tuned with what it takes in order to reach the goals set.
You’ll usually find this person leading a meeting, doing business that interacts with other important leaders of other industries.
They may be harder to reach than other members just because they’re so busy usually but ideally they’ll share enough information that’ll lead to your own independence.
What is the power of shared knowledge?
Shared knowledge allows us to understand ourselves better in communication and help others understand better too.
Of course you also get immediate benefits of extended creativity and collaboration that’s unparalleled.
I’m sure you’ve heard the term “knowledge is power” before, and if you believe in that then it’s fair to say that knowledge shared doubles it.
It’s at its most effective when the information shared affects everyone who becomes aware of it.
If you leverage the knowledge that’s shared amongst your group then you instantly elevate yourself to nearly becoming an expert in your field of expertise.
This information becomes useful enough to the point where you become able to answer the questions that really drive your agenda forward.
When do business partners become friends?
Business partners could be friends already if you start a partnership with someone from your immediate social circle.
However, with that said it could also be a recipe for disaster if you mix friendships and business.
If you decide to do so then you should be advised to follow 7 best rules of practice ahead of time.
There’s a few benefits that you get when you have friends that are already in business.
A success story of a successful alliance formed by friendships were the founders of Sparkle, Devi Jagadesan and Karmen Auble.
According to legal zoom, they recommend that the best thing you can do to protect a friendship is an agreement, partnership agreement to be exact.
There’s a quote from the legendary author C.S. Lewis that I’d like to share:

One of the most sure fire ways to make sure the business lasts between you and your partner is to have a deep desire (almost obsession-like attitude) for the company to succeed.
The main focus you’ll want to have when considering going into business with your friend is to strengthen your relationship building skills as well.
One practice that sticks out to me that was suggested when doing something of importance with your partner is to write the goal down on paper and have both parties (or more if it applies) sign it to hold accountability.
Where can I learn business tactics fast?
EDX is actually a strong business platform that provides courses on various business strategies that you can use for anything.
There’s plenty of platforms that’ll share information similar to what they have, but you’ll find the main gist of it being:
- Providing customers value
- Creating a system that gets reliable results
- Allowing a safe haven for the rest of the team
- Adding personal growth into your group’s regimen
These may sound pretty overwhelming when you try to consider but if you’re open to suggestion, I have a personal favorite.
Sure it’s a shameless plug, but it’s for a platform that I strongly believe will teach you the business fundamentals you’re looking to learn.
To be more surface level if you prefer a more manual approach is to do things like talking to more business savvy people and even network to your goal.
There’s even Udemy, an educational platform that can teach you any specifics you’re looking to learn.
If you also want to find your own platform that fits you best, look for a few things:
- A platform with activities
- Breakdown list of step by step instructions on what to do exactly
- Lectures
- Discussions
If you keep those things in mind and whatever you find provides those things then you’re on to something good.
How important is feedback
Feedback is an incredibly important part of improving your quality of work.
If you utilize the effect of a mastermind, you’ll have the honest opinion of anyone involved with your goals to help you reach the next level.
Feedback most often at times include looking at stats and information that tells you what you did right and wrong in the situation you’re looking to analyze.
With the right feedback you’ll be able to make important decisions that could drastically improve the quality and perception of your business.
A few of the most valuable benefits you receive from utilizing feedback is the following:
- Avoid major mistakes
- Outside perspective on what you were thinking when putting in the work on your product
- Keeping everybody involved on track
- Opens the door of opportunity to use better ideas in your business
Final Thoughts
A mastermind’s one of the strongest tools you can use naturally when looking to make big improvements in your life.
Here’s the main things we learned from this post again:
- Opportunity to learn from other successful businesses and leaders of the industry
- Consistent connection
- Extends your network
- Partners you can trust
- Keeps accountability
- Privacy with sharing struggles
- A space to focus on a common goal with activities included
- Reflects the knowledge of everyone involved to help everybody grow
- Potential long-term friends
- It’s fastest way to learn
- Great way to earn feedback
There’s way more that goes into this concept but it’s a great start with learning the basics of using other minds in order to succeed.
Hopefully this connects the dots for some of you.
