I’ll be answering why the rap life playlist on Apple Music’s the best.

why is the rap life on apple music the best playlist
It has a collection of rap artists that bring a good selection of projects to the table. With the likes of all relevant sounds in today’s era of streamed music, it delivers.
It has its fair share criticism from time to time but overall I’d say that it’s a solid playlist that can satisfy most rap fans.
What rap artists are worth listening to?
Gunna and Moneybagg Yo’s been heavily in rotation lately.
Is it because their music’s been added frequently in most playlists that the service provides?
Possibly.
But seriously, both of their music is popular for a reason.
They (same as most artists that make the playlist) have stories that are enjoyable to hear.
It gets complicated when breaking everything down but I’ll try my best to explain.
I’m gonna skip straight to Yo.
I have a undeniable bias for preference towards a southern sound.
Mostly because I have family that I care for that’s from the area and although I speak to them less often than I like to, I feel I have a better understanding from the music that’s popular in their area.
As you can guess by putting 2 and 2 together you probably could guess that I have family from the Memphis area.
Moneybagg Yo’s been one of the best ambassadors from that area who’s been pretty consistent as well.
Hearing the stories that he shares and perspectives on things that directly affect the streets is just my cup of tea so to speak.
Gunna as well despite having a weird reception by other listeners mainly on social media still has music that’s worth hearing.
Again, another rapper from the south, he has music that does the things I like:
- Make women happy
- Motivate me to work harder
- Feel good about myself
I get these are only 2 artists that I’ve shared but they’re great starts if you’re trying to dive deeper into modern rap music.
There’s plenty of different regions that have just as good of sound and stories told through their art but it’s my start.
My favorite songs from both of them that shows up frequently on this playlist are:
- Bread and Butter
- MotionGod
They’re both songs off their latest projects as of 2023:
- a Gift & a Curse
- Hard to Love
Rap/Apple Music FAQs
What is the most important thing in rap music?
Rhyming, lyrics and the hooks are undeniably the most important things in rap.
These parts all make up what’s considered to be good music in the industry, without a doubt.
But would you believe it if I told you that a good majority of people who listen to rap like numerous songs without even understanding what’s being said?
It’s true.
I came across a user on a forum that shared their experience and overall relationship with rap in general and it was interesting to say the least.

To sum things up they explain how they mainly appreciate the things that play a role in how the song’s received:
- Sound quality
- Artist popularity
- Market trends
This actually confirms what I believe is true when considering what makes a recording artist so successful.
It’s simply their opinion so there’s not a right or wrong when dissecting their thoughts, but I will say I agree with it.
I get consumed in my thoughts when pondering it because these are all the things I’ll get distracted with at times.
I call it a distraction because as an artist that’s in the game, these are things that do exactly what I suggest, distract.
Rappers should focus on making music, period.
It gets tricky when you have someone that’s independent so these factors may have to be considered when they’re trying to expand their brand.
But for the most part the creation process should be kept simple, make music that you and your fans would enjoy.
Who is the father of rap?
This was a surprise that the man who made The Revolution Will Not Be Televised Gilbert Scott-Heron is considered the father of rap.
The song he dropped was released in 1970.
Also known as a poet, songwriter and novelist, he lived to the age of 62 and left an impact on the hip-hop genre as a whole.
There’s a few other names that’s thrown in the discussion when it comes to the title with the likes of DJ Kool Herc, Dr. Dre and even Eminem.
They’re strong candidates but Gil’s impact could be argued to have inspired everyone else below him.
And for me it’s most likely due to seniority, but in such an opinionated industry it’s hard to give a definitive answer.
Is Apple Music really worth it?
Yes, any major streaming platform for that matter is worth it if you break it down.
The average price for subscription to DSP’s such as Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music and services similar give you access to virtually any song you could think of for around $10.
Apple Music is possibly in top 3 category due to popularity alone.
I personally believe it’s because of the popularity of iPhones but the other platforms are just as competitive.
Final Thoughts
To sum things up, I personally prefer the Rap Life playlist that Apple Music offers because of their acknowledgment of rotating artists that I usually like to hear.
They help discover what rappers are the wave.
They seem pretty in tune with what’s popular and likable with most hip-hop fans, but what do you think?
