I’ll be answering why rappers release instrumentals.
I call them beats but that’s the original question so I’m letting you know now that moving forward I’ll be calling them that.

To explain it in the simplest of terms it’s just an easier digestion for most listeners.
That and they are made in ways that leaves the interpretation up for discussion.
It’s been seen quite a few times so far in having releases of beats with the Final Cut of songs.
Let’s get into it.
Why Do Rappers Release Instrumentals?
There’s more money that can be made from releasing them.
Why is it not standard to release official instrumental versions of songs?
There has to be a high enough demand for a beat to have it released officially.
That’s extra work for the engineer to remove the vocals and re-release the beat again.
They would have to be doing it out of pure enjoyment if so.
One concept that went away but addressed this desire was through the use of stem players.
That might be taking things back a little by encouraging people to buy devices again but if the product’s there then it’s worth it.
I found out in Japan it’s standard to release a separate side to a record with the instrumental available too.
Why do some artists/bands put an instrumental track in their vocal albums?
Everything’s pure speculation since I don’t officially make my own beats yet.
If I was and were to release them then it would be to lock in with talent that makes the beats profitable.
You have to see past the initial dollar in most businesses. I don’t see it changing up much with music production.
If the song is already paid for and it’s doing well then an instrumental challenge might do it even better.
Letting others add to existing talents only builds on top of the business.
Why Artists Are Releasing Their Instrumentals
Artists are releasing their instrumentals for the same reasons I mentioned earlier.
There’s only uphills when you already have a hot song with a beat that everybody likes already.
Once it goes public it only allows more publicity to come its way.
the money that can be made from releasing instrumentals
Most formal music productions were reserved for the Church only.
Most beats required hand signs and the conductor get the rest started with the motion.
Early keyboards only had 8 notes to show the octave available from the diatonic scale.
Things would go to change once more notes were discovered.
Understandable the notes for these instrumental meant learning the notes.
It became easier to understand once the newer notes were placed right behind the main ones.
These additional notes called accidentals were changed even further once it got determined the accidental notes were too close.
It would force spacing by the twos and threes.
When the introduction of the Piano became established it became discovered that wooden notes were white keys.
And on the diatonic scale there were acknowledgements of black keys for accidental notes.

What is a good program to start making beats with?
There’s actually a few:
- FL Studio
- GarageBand
- Audacity
- Cakewalk on BeatStars
- Beatmaker 3
I came across an opinion on Reddit that answered the same question and shared 2 helpful programs.
They were Ableton and FL Studio.
Other than the other 5 that I suggested it’s pretty unanimous for determining the best free beat maker.
