I’ll be answering the question “are you considered a mother when pregnant”.
This was an argument that I remember growing up and it was never really put to rest, so I decided to answer it myself.
Although I don’t have any children myself, I’ve been very seasoned in experiencing what makes someone a good mother.
But first, let’s answer the question.
are you considered a mother when pregnant
You’re actually not considered a mother when you’re pregnant. To be technical, it first comes after you physically give birth to your child. However, it’s truly earned after accepting a child as a kid of your own and doing whatever necessary to help them reach adulthood and repeat the cycle.
Mother FAQs
At what point are you considered a mother?
The point at which you can consider yourself to be a mother is biologically after birth, but there’s more work to do after that.
Earning that title warrants raising your child (either biological or adopted), and helping them reach adulthood.
That’s how you lock the title down for life.
Final Thoughts
Being a mother should be a very rewarding experience and you should definitely be excited about experiencing this lifetime commitment.
There’s plenty of emotional bonding that you may be looking forward to with your new child, but don’t rush yourself yet.
You may be looking forward to Mother’s Day, seeing someone you raise graduate from school or carry on a family tradition you hold dear.
But remember, getting pregnant is only half the battle, delivering is the second half of the game (for lack of better term).
