Because it took a wig and massive amounts of makeup to make the doll look as close to the original in 1988 Child’s Play as possible. They wanted to remove the face scars with these additions.
How did Chucky come back in Curse of Chucky?
Curse of Chucky doesn’t actually show how Chucky gets revived if you’re following the events of Seed.
Each movie has a slightly different take on how Chucky comes back to life.
In the original Child’s Play Chucky was starting off as a human that’s known to be Charles Lee Ray.
Before he dies after being gunned down there’s a voodoo ritual that’s performed to transfer his soul in a popular Good Guy Doll.
Child’s Play 2 brings Chucky back by a freak electrocution accident with a refurbished Good Guy Doll.
Child’s Play 3 resurrects Chucky by having a mixture of Chucky’s blood help create the new batch of dolls.
Bride of Chucky reveals Chucky’s human lover Tiffany tracking his remains down to perform a voodoo ritual that brings him back.
Seed of Chucky continues the story by revealing the son of Tiffany and Chucky to be Glen.
He revives them both after tracking them down in L.A. and performing the voodoo ritual chant with an amulet.
The only other movie left unaccounted for is Cult of Chucky where he’s shown to not have died.
Matter of fact he’s shown to have a power where he can split his soul in multiple dolls.
