It’s AJ, and this is my commercialized blog site, where I can share my lifestyle interests and provide thoughtful insights on topics worth discussing.

Today I’ll be sharing with you what my favorite sport is.

My Favorite Sport

My favorite sport has and still is wrestling.

It’s arguably one of the most independent and naturally felt sports where you create your own success.

It’s contested at an Olympic level and compliments other sports nicely.

I’m grateful that I was able to experience this sport for as long as I have.

The Sport of Wrestling

Wrestling is one of the first sports ever recorded.

It’s evolved to 3 styles:

  • Folkstyle
  • Freestyle
  • Greco-Roman

I’ve made previous posts to try and tie in the styles together.

I’ve made Folkstyle and Freestyle wrestling, why is freestyle wrestling harder than folkstyle.

One of my most popular was the freestyle wrestling techniques guide I made.

It’s a battle of physicality, mentality and ‘heart’.

It’s my favorite mix of individuality and teamwork in action.

I’ve trained all 3 styles but only competed in 2.

And one of them has a career that only stretches to 2 tournaments.

That’s freestyle to be specific.

I can draw a cartoon parallel to the same way Pokemon battles are done is how competition is held in wrestling.

There’s plenty of things that could be done to grow the sport, same as things they’re doing right to put them in that position.

Wrestling’s Individuality

I’ve mentioned numerous times how I appreciate the things that wrestling’s gave me and my favorite is the individuality.

Each time you step on the mat it’s a reflection on who you are as a person.

Wrestling’s one of the few sports where you can customize your entire image when competing.

It’s in a weird space as far as what it’s trying to be but it’s in a position to continue their direction with creators and maybe open the door with new partners.

But for the athlete things can be a communicator for your personality without you even knowing it.

The type of shots you take, hand fighting intensity, your response to pressure and even more.

Wrestling’s popularity in the Olympics

Wrestling’s deciding factor on how popular it can be being an Olympic sport is getting names that draw attention making the OTT.

First is making the team.

There’s an array of tournaments that’ll qualify a wrestler for the Olympics.

The process in the U.S. goes winning the trials and qualifying the weight for the games.

Final thoughts

My favorite sport to watch is wrestling.

I like all of the styles but my favorite’s freestyle.

If we continue to evolve the opportunity and incentive to draw names that impact viewership then the sport will grow.
