It’s AJ, and this is my commercialized blog site, where I can share my lifestyle interests and provide thoughtful insights on topics worth discussing.

Today I’ll be answering the question “What are the major differences between folkstyle and freestyle wrestling?”

Yes, I’m back with another post about wrestling because I feel super motivated to help grow the sport.

This is gonna be a fun question to answer, so let’s get into it.

What are the major differences between folkstyle and freestyle wrestling?

For starters, you’re able to hit moves from the bottom position. There’s also a difference in the points system between the two styles. In folkstyle, you’re encouraged to control your opponent when they’re on bottom, as opposed to freestyle in which you’re encouraged to get exposures. And lastly, in freestyle you can lock your hands.

You can lock hands (Freestyle)

Okay, I got my ass whooped in this match, but I only have less than 10 matches under my belt in Freestyle.

I chose to share this video because I like seeing myself wrestle.

Okay, that was partially a joke but this connects well with the exposure that’s encouraged in freestyle.

And the fact that you can lock your hands when on top of your opponent.
