Today I’ll be answering the question “what makes Mereum such a great antagonist?”

What makes Mereum such a great antagonist?

Mereum is the mirror version of the show’s protagonist; Gon. Gon would be considered to start the series off with an optimistic view that turns sour. But Mereum on the other hand starts off towards the end of the Chimera Ant arc with a cynical view of the human race that gets changed.

Gon starts optimistic, and ends pessimistic

Mereum has a Vice versa effect

Final Thoughts

These points should summarize Mereum’s character effectively.

He’s shown to be the mirror copy to the story’s protagonist (Gon).

Gon’s character tips towards the scale of what Mereum’s was when we get introduced to him.

With that said we also see a reverse happen with Mereum who start’s off dark, and then we get a chance to see a more positive side to him.
