The predator came to earth for sportsmanship. There are hunters that enjoy the hunt of earning a well fight victory. That, and the fact that they’re constantly observing space, looking for natural and biological resources for them to extract. When they satisfy these requirements in their culture they gain rank in their society.

To sum things up effectively, the prayers come to earth for sport. They enjoy the hunt and are always looking for resources to bring to their home planet. It all falls towards the goal of achieving a higher rank in their society.
